KOTRC Technical Topics

This set of pages contains notes of a technical nature on subjects of interest to control line modelers.

So You Want to Try Electric? Here's How

Rudy Taub Details what you need and where to get it. Photos as shown in the September 06 Club Meeting. This is P40 with Volts. Shocking!!

Electric C/L

Line Shape and Line Offset

A Program and supporting PDF file to describe its operation providing line offset and several other parameters with a way of checking out the calculated values in flight test is discussed in this link  LINE SHAPE

Fuel Mix Calculator

This is Randy Hedon's spreadsheet calculator. Open it and click on sheet 2 for an illustrated guide of how to use it. Any amount of an existing fuel mix, or two. A goal for the percentages of the new mix and you know how many ounces of what to add. Click    HERE   if you want to see what the sheet looks like. Get the sheet:     Download Fuel Mix spreadsheet

Line Rake/Line Drag

From South America an Implementation in a spread sheet format of Netzeband's line rake and drag calculations using my line drag model. This nice bit of work was written by Alfredo J. Herbón from Olavarría - Argentina    Download Line Rake/Drag

Flight Mechanics of Control Line Wires

This is an article I wrote that was published the 1971/1972 Aeromodeller Annual. It explains how the calculations are made and uses F2A (FAI speed) as an example of use. At the end I say that streamlining the lines will be the speed secret of the century. I note that less than 24 months after this article was published line groupers and other line streamlining techniques were outlawed following their highly successful introduction 1n 1973. Read It:    Flight Mechanics of C/L Wires

Line Shape and Line Offset

A self-contained program by Pete Soule and supporting PDF file to describe its operation providing line offset and several other parameters and a way of checking out the calculated values in flight test.   LINE SHAPE

Propeller Gyro Torque and Vibration

A discussion of the gyroscopic torques generated by a control line aircraft with a JavaScript program that computes the average torque in maneuvers or level flight     Gyro Torque

CLPA Maneuvers - What They Look Like In Practice

From South Africa, Keith Renicle's CLPA maneuver photos. Pattern execution by different fliers traced on a photo from a video.  Renicle's Maneuver Analysis

Aero Notes

Ten notes written over a period of 6 to 8 years ago covering many issued in the dynamics and aerodynamics of our aircraft.     AERO NOTES

The Atmosphere

A technical paper originally written for the NFFS Symposium. Goes with the atmosphere calculator program available in the AERO NOTES section above. Download  THE ATMOSPHERE
