Control Line Shape

Computer Program, User Guide, and Tech background

This page provides some software to estimate where the control line leadouts should be placed and a way of flighte testing the answer. In addition two papers, although highly technical, provide some of the physics and mathematical background employed to construct parts of this program.

In additon to the leadout placement the program provides the results of a number of other calculations such as the power required by the lines, the effect of whipping or holding back, takeoff speed (useful for C/L speed models), atmospheric data, and some other data all described in the user's guide.

Pete's Note

When you download the zip file unzip it and keep all the files in the same folder. Read the user's guide PDF document. A sample of the output is in the "html" file tha tis downloaded. After you have read the user's guide then edit the file "ac.txt" and ruin your own case.
