KOTRC Newsletter for December 2006 - Part 2
Mario Salazar - A junior Ringmaster with a Medallion 15 on it. ale and Joel in the foreground .
Dale Kirn – a prototype engine, one of only 2 made that were effectively a Tee Dee with the venturi coming out of the bottom of the crankcase instead of the top. Also, a backplate mount he designed that Cox declined to make, but Carl Goldberg bought the design and made gazillions of them.
Rudy Taube – Brodak P-40 ARF modified to electric power. He currently uses a 10x6 prop, but expects that 11x6 would be better. It has a long, narrow battery pack that would work well in a full fuselage model. 56 ounce take-off weight. More details are available on our website under “tech tips”. He runs at 10K on takeoff with it programmed to ramp up to compensate for battery voltage drop through the run. Lap times are very constant. |
Andy Borgogna – Flying Purple People Eater, a 1/2A model of his own design. Uses a Big Mig .061. He first flew it on 30’ lines. BIG mistake! Darn near lost his lunch. Next time on 40’.
George Barlow – P-51 Mustang built from a Jetco kit. Dates to about 1965, but uses a late ‘50s McCoy 35 for power. Last flown in the ‘70s, when the engine quits it falls out of the air. A real veteran -- both owner and builder.
John Wright – 2 combat planes he bought at Golden State Championships. Due to some wheeling and dealing he got those and several more plus a couple of Stehls engines for exactly nothing!.
