Stealthily held at Fuddrukkers

Stealthily held as usual at Fudrukkers on Beach and Orangethorpe.  Pete Soule, Andy Borgogna, Larry Renger, Dennis Coleman, Randy Heydon, and Warren Walker attending. (not their real names)

Discussed Joust and Palmer meet dates, proposed June 2 and 3 for Joust and April 28/29 for the Palmer.

Discussed talking to the Circle Burners about setting up some inter-club competition for an annual trophy. We’ll have to think on this some more.

Reviewed the preps for the AMA Convention, and who would do what, with which to whom.

Pre meeting: members gather

General Meeting :: AFI Building 19:30 Hours:

Guests:Ray Ebert brought his daughter.

Show and Tell:

John Wright – nothing! Guess he hasn’t been in his garage lately.

Posted on the wall

Larry Renger- Two framed paintings from box art of planes he designed at Cox.

A new Sky Sport wing featuring serious warps. Sky Sport action photos. A Wright Brothers DVD dontated to the club library. Plans for a Scarinzi .15 size OT model, promptly snatched by Antone.

Antone Kephart: A nearly finished ARC Strega. His wing weighed in at 17 ounces, but he has done a lot of rework. Got 2 ounces cut out of the fuselage alone, 1 ounce out of the wing.

Ray Ebert – Photos of a rebuilt HO gauge set his father had originally built.

George Barlow – Plans for a PBY “Dumbo” from Royal Kits. Used 2 - .29 engines. He got the plans from e-Bay. Also a set of Kyosho plans for a Constellation. 72” span for 4 .15 engines.

Go here... Show and Tell Part 2... for more.

Old Business:

The field needs repair. Our patching of a couple of years ago just doesn’t cut it. Mike Fox will get some bids on a real refinish. Dennis will talk to the AMA about a contribution. Larry to talk to the Circle Burners about how they get help and some contributions from their members, as we contributed to their field work. John may also talk to the AMA as a backup for Dennis.

Dave Kick was home for a while, but is back in the hospital. Overall seems to be improving.

Quick reminder and review of the AMA Convention upcoming and what needed to be done.

New Business:

The suggested dates for the contests were proposed and approved:

Palmer Memorial - April 28/29 (but this will have to move, we found out later, due to a previously sanctioned speed and race date) =( CD – Warren Walker; Food – Warren

Now we need volunteers for judging, tabulating, runners, pit bosses and all.

Larry to obtain club charter and insurance for the year to cover the county, parks department and US Army corps of engineering.

Voted for Warren to spend $900 of Palmer fund money for prizes to raffle off to the pilots. Evenly split between Brodak and RSM. John to hit up Larry Rice for a kit or two.

Randy will look into the park fees. Probably $50/day and $2/contestant. Not worth the effort to do a freeby “memorial” thing as the park wants, then, to be a co-sponsor and have advertising.

We voted to set the entry fees to be: Pre-entry, $15 first event, $10 additional events. On site entry $20 first event, $10 additional events.

Raffle – 1 ticket for each event entered, no tickets for sale.

Warren to make the trophies, Larry to provide artwork.

Sir Dale Kirn’s Knights Joust – June 2/3. Dennis will CD with Andy Borgogna assisting.
