General Meeting :: AFI Hangar 19:30 Hours:
Though many were missing because of VSC, the meeting had a good turnout. Show and Tell:Before the show and tell big show starts the Pres, Dave Kick, and Warren Walker examine some props that were to be given away.
Pete Soule started off show and tell buy mentioning the death of Addie Naccarato. He noted the article on Addie’s “Big Job” in “Flying Models’” April 2007 issue. A beautiful stunter designed by Addie in 1948! From the plans it would appear to be very competitive today. He also talked about Bill Wisniewski’s death. Pete has written a wonderful obituary on Bill and had a copy for every one to view. A copy is available on line. Pete also showed an aviation art calendar, and had some props to give away. They went fast Rudy Taube, determined to see that none of the attendees went home with less calories than they showed up with brought three boxes to smash any New Year resolutions. Fat City. 80 ))
Bob Werle brought in his new ½A stunt trainer. It’s a British design called “Dragonfire”. It is claimed to be “The Indistrctable Trainer”, and Bob wants to test that claim. The profile fuselage has the top motor mount going the length of the fuselage. The wings feature diagonal ribs. It’s to be powered with a CS .049. The CS engine has to be lapped, howver. As it came from the factory it seemed to be a press fit. 8-((.
To polish off the treats he brought Rudy Tabue shows a device for assisting flying alone. His “Show and Tell” featured a contest. As in “Guess What This Is”. Ken Kaiser won the $2.00 prize by figuring out that it is a handle holder. It’s Rudy’s own creation that holds his flying handle off the ground above the grass or clag on the concrete while the pilot walks out to the pole, the aircraft engine running and the stooge holding tight. An improvement will be a computer controlled handle rotation bearing that will fly the pattern so the pilot can watch. His last thing was to talk about the collection of all “Stunt News” magazines is coming out on CD.
Warren Walker shared what has been keeping him busy at the shop. Toyota “Tundra” “Triple Beam” frame sections for display at Toyota’s 1300 plus dealers. Dale Kirn showed his second FAI speed plane that he built and the Article about it published in Flying Models.. He had also built a micro sized hardwood display model of it. A work of art, as you would expect from Dale. He also brought ten years worth of “Model Aviation” to give away. The model sports a 1960 vintage Super Tigte and a little friend.
"Do not worry my little boy. Some day you will grow up and become a magnificent speed aircraft with a displacement of 2500 cubic millimeters!."
Dennis Coleman brought samples of RSM’s new Chinese made 10-6 and 11-6. They’re beautifully carved and finished and said to have a slight under chamber. He also showed off his new Merco 51. A couple shots below - I apologize for the blur

Old Business: Warren Walker and Dave Kick gave us an update on how the Palmer Contest is shaping up. It’s coming along well except that we’re still looking for the “stunt box”. It’s requested that every one pre-register. Your score sheets will be made out for you. This will make Saturday morning go much faster and smoother. Refunds will be given if needed New Business: Pete Soule talked about the workings of our new E-mail account. People visiting the web site will see the e-mail address for kotrc. The accont will hold 1 GB of past messages to the club and all officers have the ability to access the account. The speed competiton at the Joust has been mooved to the SCAR contest in April and PEte will be the ED Warren Walker has put in a request for the field to be trimmed by the park. Warren suggested we consider adding an open profile event. It would be the same rules as we currently have except that any size motor would be allowed. Mike Fox suggested we add a “Highest Scoring Electric” trophy. It was decided that we will give a kit to the highest scoring under 18 year old. |
