Old Business: The new signs should be available by around the 14th. We will be sure to make them non-removable, this time. New Business: Pete Soule discussed the website. Although it costs $75/year to maintain, it saves more than that by reducing the mailing costs of this newsletter and contest mailings. Warren Walker announced that Dave Sabon will be unable to put on the Mackey contest and wanted us to take it over. After discussion and votes, we will do a 1-day event this year and punch it up to 2 with a banquet for next year. Events will be Old Time, Classic and 2 classes of Profile (no engine limit) The date is November 10, a Saturday. Antone Kephart is the CD. It will be held at Whittier Narrows. There was discussion of the fact that Bill Lee had proposed to the AMA that the Nats be cut to 3 days. Rudy Taube mentioned that the Builder of the Model rule is now officially in the AMA rulebook. Read it and understand it, so there will be no arguments at contests. (You can argue for or against it elsewhere, but at present, it IS the rule) Warren Walker suggested that the club put up some money for the international C/L team to help out. It was moved and passed that $400 would be sent from the Palmer fund in Bob’s memory. We need nominations for new officers. The ones we have are well used and need replacement. AFI is having an open house on 9-19 and wants some flight demos from us. Volunteers are forthcoming. Rudy talked to the Civil Air Patrol regarding help on contests. They are interested. Warren is going to have an engine break-in fest at his factory on 9-13. |
