From The Circular Office:

From The Circular Office: I want to thank all those that participated in our contest, last month. Thanks also goes to Larry for his informative presentation on hinging with Monocoat, as well as to Warren for bringing in his silkspan covered wing for us to sand off the fillercoat. This month’s cover credit goes to our hard working webmaster, Pete, who discovered the above artwork from June 1934 just in time for the June meeting. Speaking of June, I would like to initiate a ‘celebration’ section, which I will devote to monthly birthdays, or any significant anniversary you wish to announce. The following is the only data that I have for this issue, so please send me any occasions you wish me to announce, in the future. My apologies to anyone I may have missed.

JUNE BIRTHDAYS

JOEL CHESLER, DIANE CALDWELL, WARREN WALKER & DALE KIRN.

Speaking of Dale, I talked to him a week ago and he was in good spirits and hopes to get better soon. Also on the health front, our own Mister RSM, Eric has been under the weather since the last contest; we wish you a speedy recovery Eric. For the next meeting, Bob will be bringing a short video on Japanese WWII rocket fighters. Don’t miss it. Although I will be busy with contractors on Saturday, we hope to see you at this weekend’s Knight’s Joust.

Your President, JOEL

Old Business:

Randy had a report on Dale Kirn’s progress. He completed in-hospital rehab and is now at home. Possible spinal disk problems. Too much pain meds have him pretty well zonked-out.

We have invited the Valley Circle Burners to join us at our Holiday Party. It sounds as if they are interested.

The Joust was reported as being all set up (turns out not to be quite accurate statement!)

Larry requested that we find a new home for the 20 gallons of pavement repair goo and the other, related tools. Warren will store them in his warehouse.

A review of the Palmer meet was next. It was a a very successful contest, with 48 people entered - many in multiple events - the largest in the West. We gave away free food to all the workers and spent about $900 on the raffle. Food costs were way up. We spent $300 on a mailing where we usually only spend about $50.

Although this extra money is fully covered by the Palmer contest's sponsor, Mr. Heyworth, and no club funds are used, we will have to be careful at the other two club contests because they are sponsored soley by the club.

At the Joust, Warren will increase food prices a bit, and the only freebies will be Water and Gatorade drinks for the judges.

New Business:

Warren suggested dedicating Beginner Stunt to Cliff Silva at this year’s Joust. It was approved.

Last year a gang went to the “Quakes” baseball game after Saturday’s flying. Warren will get tickets again this year.

Warren suggested nominating Larry Renger to the AMA hall of fame. Warren will investigate.

John W reported that there is a swap meet on the 17th.

Larry noted that the Chino airshow is on the 16th and 17th .

Entertainment: Larry did a demo on how to do Monokote hinges such as he has on his Smoothie.
