A Letter From George Aldrich

In 1966 I was writing the "Round and Round" column for Model Airplane News. I had wondered about how many Aldirch-designed kits as been made. I had also talked with George before about his interest in speed. My querry to the manufacturer drew a long and interesting letter from George. I have reproduced it here as I got it; color and all. In his hand, with his letterhead of the time the response takes two pages and the longest is about 280kb. The people he talks about are two guys from the "Valley Circle Burners" club. Pete Brandt my pit man (or was I his pilot?) and John Barr, later to be father of the ARM team race engine and winner of Proto Speed with an XP Veco 29 BB. John worked for Veco at the time. Oh, and someone named Bill Netzeband. |
